Japanese kitchen scissors - Mimatsu
Count the times you reach for a pair of scissors in your kitchen? To cut anything from herbs to bacon, to opening packets, to cracking nuts with the handles. There is nothing more usefulĀ when they are sharp, well designed and hard wearing. These are well made and will last a lifetime. A great gift for the kitchen connoisseur.
Saunders says:
"A really good pair of kitchen scissors are indispensable in the kitchen. Iām not talking plastic handle things that break when they look at a chicken carcass. Iām talking heavy all-metal Japanese beauties.
I took aĀ while finding these because I wanted lots of boxes to be ticked. SomeĀ German knife companies do great poultry shears but they are a little medieval when trying to chop chives. I wanted something more all-purpose.
My first priorityĀ was functionality at which these scissors excel. The second was sharpness, and crucially their capability to stay sharp. Unless you have bought your scissors from the Early Learning Centre, they all come reasonably sharp. Japanese scissors come very very sharp and stay that way. Having said this, if you happen to have a bumper load of crabs to break down they will get blunt eventually. With this in mind, I made sure that the scissors came apart and could be easily sharpened."
